Vivo Y53s Full Specifications and Review

We are talking about the Vivo Y53s smartphone, the first from this company to reach Bangladesh, along with its very similar brother, the Vivo Y33. Although the nomenclature is a bit complicated because there are some models with “s” and other models without “s”, we are talking about a mid-range model whose official distribution price in Mexico is 20,990 Tk.

Here we leave you a list with the prices of other countries, although keep in mind that they are conversions based on the Bangladeshi Tk, and the actual price may vary depending on the region, the time elapsed since its launch, and other factors.

The frames and construction of the Vivo Y53s are both made of plastic. It has dimensions of 16.40 cm x 7.54 cm x 8.38 mm and a weight of 191 g. It is available in blue and black colors and does not have any certification against water or dust.

The 6.58-inch screen of the Vivo Y53s has thin frames and rounded corners, which means that the front is very well used. Vivo Y53s do not have any Gorilla Glass protection, so you will have to be careful with falls.

The rear cover has a very shiny finish that reflects light in multiple colors and also reflects the image, giving it a very striking appearance. On the other hand, it gives us a feeling of comfort because it has curved edges, which gives it a good grip.

In the upper part, we have a microphone. We also have the tray to place SIM cards and Micro SD cards, while in the lower part we have the headphone jack, the second microphone, a USB type C port, and the speaker. On the right side, we have an on and off button that will be the fingerprint reader at the same time, and we also have volume buttons.  There is absolutely nothing. On the left-hand side,

Multimedia of Vivo Y53s

remember, Vivo Y53s’s screen is 6.58 inches with Full HD + resolution in a 20:9 ratio, that is, 2,408 x 1,080, which results in a density of pixels per inch of 401 PPI. The panel used in the Vivo Y53s is an IPS LCD with a 60 Hz refresh rate.

If we had to describe this Vivo Y53s screen in very few words, it would be “less than expected for the price” because we have a good size and good resolution, but we did not find contrasts as high or viewing angles as good, nor an excellent display under sunlight, but within the IPS screens this is one of the highest quality, although within the price range there are already several competitors that offer AMOLED screens, being a screen nothing more compliant.

Vivo Y53s’s accompanied, as always, by a dark theme and an eye protection mode, although the dark theme won’t save as much battery life as an OLED screen would because the black areas still emit light. It has a section to calibrate the colors in a more specific way, although the standard is the one that has the best representation.

We only have one speaker at the bottom, so there won’t be stereo sound, which deducts points. In addition, we do not have a very remarkable quality because there is practically no bass presence, and the treble does not accompany the sound very well either. having a sound where the mids stand out, and that is not usually very comfortable audio. Through software, we will not find any equalizer, only a sound effect by age range, but it will only work when we have headphones connected.

Vivo Y53s Main Camera

Vivo Y53s’s camera module is located in the upper left part of the cover and has 3 cameras. Its main camera is 64 MP with an F1.79 aperture, which is capable of giving us a very good level of detail, especially if you activate the 64 MP mode because you will notice a lot of detail and very sharp photos in which you can zoom. You still retain good sharpness. In addition, both outdoors and indoors have good color representation.

Unfortunately, in low light, the result is not so spectacular, despite having automatic HDR, since it does not manage to balance the light and dark areas very well, producing a worse result than that of the front camera, even with pixel fusion.

The main camera is capable of focusing on nearby objects because it has autofocus, and if you enable the 64 MP mode, you will appreciate the good detail achieved by digital zoom. That is why we did not consider the 2 MP depth camera. The 2MP macro lens has an F2.4 aperture and fixed focus, which allows you to focus from a closer distance but captures slightly paler colors, and the level of detail is not higher than what the main camera can offer us.

Unfortunately, the equipment does not have an ultra-wide camera, but it does have a panoramic mode that you could use to capture more. Although this panoramic mode uses the initial exposure of the photograph, if there are slightly darker areas, it will not raise the light, resulting in a result with very little dynamic range, although fortunately the division and fusion between all the photographs are not noticeable.

In terms of zoom, it’s not too surprising either because the maximum you can achieve is 4X digitally, which looks good, but much other equipment with a high-resolution sensor can achieve up to 10X and you will still see good detail, which is what disappoints.

The third camera of the team is depth, to capture the difference between the foreground and background, which is 2 MP with an F2.4 aperture and fixed focus, which gives us a good result because we have correct detection and can keep objects that are not an obvious part of your body in focus. In addition, you can take photos of objects in portrait mode, and after taking the photo, you can change the intensity of the blur.

At night with the automatic mode, we already have a pretty good result, because a good level of detail is seen and not much noise is appreciated, but the dynamic range is not so high, so when you enable the super night mode, the dynamic range improves considerably and we can already see a little more colors. However, curiously, the level of detail is reduced.

Front Camera:

Vivo Y53s’s front camera is located inside a drop-shaped notch at the top center of the screen, but for its price, we can ask you to have it inside a cutout instead of the notch. This camera is 16 MP with an F2.0 aperture, which gives us a fairly good level of detail for social networks and impressions.

Because it has a fixed focus, you will need to be relatively close to the camera to get a good focus, since if you are a little far away and stretch your arm a lot, it is likely that there will be some parts that come out of focus. However, it still provides a good experience.

The Vivo Y53s does not have any wide-angle camera, so you can fit a maximum of two friends, and it does not have a panoramic mode either, but it does have a portrait mode, which works quite well since its artificial intelligence is well trained because it is able to maintain relatively focused objects that are not part of the body.

Vivo Y53s perform very well against the light, and that is probably one of its strongest points, so even if you don’t have the light in front of you, the result comes out well with lights without burning out and with well-lit shadows, achieving a fairly good balance.

Vivo Y53s: Video Recording

In video recording, it does not stand out too much in resolution because it reaches Full HD at 30 fps, which is fine and we could not demand more from it, being of considerably good quality. Something that should be highlighted about the Vivo Y53s device is its stabilization, which is excellent in this price range. It is probably one of the types of equipment that stabilizes the best even without optical stabilization, so only with digital stabilization does it achieve surprising performance.

It is not recommended to record against the light, but practically no equipment at this price will be advisable to record with a lot of light behind. Fortunately, it will give priority to the faces and illuminate them well despite the fact that the background burns them, so it is advisable to record with the front light. The focus is not very fast because it takes about a second to refocus from the foreground to the background and vice versa.

At night we will find an acceptable recording, although at times it can struggle a bit with the focus. In addition, the dynamic range is difficult at night and we hear a little more presence of noise, but for a device of this price, we could conclude that the recording at night is of good quality.

With the zoom, it behaved practically the same way as in photography. That is, we have up to 4X digital zoom, which is very little zoom, but the good thing is that you can get closer fluidly, without aggressive jumps, and with very good stabilization.

The device can record slow motion in HD at 120 fps, which is not spectacular, although the result is positive compared to other equipment that is supposed to record with the same specifications. It also manages to record fast motion with good quality since you can choose the speed from 15X to 960X, which for some people could be very fast, the ideal being 4X. You can record spectacular landscapes.

With the front camera, you also have the ability to record in Full HD at 30 fps. Although unfortunately, we don’t have the same stabilization as on the main camera, the backlight performance is quite good and it will give preference to lit faces, although it won’t allow recording in slow motion or fast motion.

Vivo Y53s: camera interface

There is no document scanner function in the main interface, but it is available as a separate mode. To scan QR codes, we will notice that it does not do it automatically, but we have to open Google Lens in the upper left corner, and with this tool, we can scan these codes.

In the camera interface in the front camera, we have a capture speed that is not very fast, but if we turn off the HDR, we can improve the response time a little, but we do not have the burst available, although in the main camera we do have this option and you can achieve up to 20 photographs.

Security of Vivo Y53s

We will find a side fingerprint reader that allows you to add up to five different fingerprints, and unlocking is quite fast, being able to select if you want to press the button or if you simply want to put your finger on it so that the unlocking is done. We will also find facial recognition, which is very basic and insecure because it is unlocked with less than half of the face, although it requires that you have your eyes open.

Through its iManager application, you can protect some applications by entering the application encryption section so that, if you lend your cell phone unlocked, you have a second layer of protection, or you can even hide applications completely. For files, you would have the secure Google Files folder, but it does not allow you to use your fingerprint. It has Google Smart Lock and Google Auto Fill.

The battery and connectivity

In the battery, we will find one of its strongest points, since we have a battery with a good capacity of 5,000 mAh, more than enough to get to the end of the day, which is well complemented by its 33W charger, which will not take too long to reach 100%.

We are going to find a simple energy-saving mode because we do not have an extreme energy-saving mode for emergencies, and something bad is that it does not have intelligent charging either, so it is not recommended that you leave it charging all night.

In terms of connectivity, the device has support for 4G networks, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, OTG support, and FM radio. It has the option to project your screen wirelessly, being able to project only a video, an image, music, or the entire screen. It has Android Auto and Nearby Share, in addition to the ability to easily share files with other teams.

Vivo Y53s Software

It has Android 11 in conjunction with the Vivo Y53s customization layer; Funtouch OS in its version 11.1. It is not known for sure what version this Vivo Y53s device will update to; it is expected to be Android 12 at best, but it is not confirmed. By having its distribution with Telcel in Bangladesh, it will come with several Claro applications, also the lock screen, and notifications that can bombard you with news, but this is not Vivo’s fault, but Telcel’s for including so many garbage applications.

Custom Animations

You can select various animations. For example, the screen lights up when you receive a notification with certain animations when someone is calling you. You can have some quite striking effects. You can select the animation. that you want it to have when you return to the initial screen, or if you just don’t want it to have animations. You can also choose the facial recognition animation, and it even allows you to change the loading animation.

Video editor and compressor

It has a very good pre-installed video editor since it can automatically edit your clips with artificial intelligence or you can choose a theme to apply, as well as tools such as trimming the clip, applying music from a good library, putting different texts throughout the video, modifying its speed, and even putting the video square or vertically, and you can enjoy these tools for free and without watermarks, including the function of compressing videos.

A list of additional functions
  • -Navigation by gestures.
  • -Mode of use with one hand.
  • -Long screenshot
  • -Screen recording.

Performance of the Vivo Y53s

It has the Helio G80 processor, which is built on a 12nm process and has 8 cores, of which 2 are rated at 2.0 GHz and another 6 runs at 1.8 GHz. The processor is accompanied by the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. It comes with 8 GB of RAM, expandable via virtual RAM up to 12 GB, and 128 GB of storage, expandable with a MicroSD card up to 1 TB.

With these specifications, we see the good performance because it takes an average of 3.3 seconds to open the applications, which is well within its range, and due to its good RAM memory and its virtual expansion, it is capable of keeping 12 applications open at the same time without any problems, so it works very well.

The type of user Vivo Y53s device is aimed at is a user who is looking to take a lot of selfies in any type of condition and who will not demand too much from the main camera, in addition to looking for good performance and many applications installed and open to it. time, cutting back on aspects such as the multimedia section.

Vivo Y53s: Gaming Test

As soon as we open the content, it shows us some tools and tells us that we also have improved performance. In addition to the fact that you can block notifications and block automatic brightness when you activate the eSports mode, it improves performance a little, but it is not a processor that is focused on games.

Vivo Y53s: Call Of Duty

By default, it loads us with low quality at a medium frame rate, and we can go up to medium quality at a high frame rate, but unfortunately, on Vivo equipment, they are not compatible with the software we use to measure performance. However, from experience by testing this processor on several occasions, we can tell you that the experience is smooth with low graphics and we do not have many effects. Therefore, the workload is not so much and it manages to maintain good stability.

Vivo Y53s: Marvel Future Revolution

It defaults to fast settings on low and even though we can crank everything up to max frame rate, the output is not quite the same quality as more powerful processors, so you can still play games, but you don’t get the advanced visuals you might find on more expensive equipment.

Vivo Y53s: Genshin Impact

Vivo Y53s gives us a very low quality by default, and even if you go up to 60 fps, the processor is not going to have enough power to give you good performance because it is a much more complicated game, and despite having a very low graphic quality, you can find some obstacles. Although it is of low quality, it can give you a smooth experience.
