Tecno has been globally acclaimed for making entry-level to mid-range smartphones for quite some time now. The company is known for its performance and value for money. This time with Tecno Pop 5 LTE, the company aims to offer the best durability features under the budget segment. The phone was officially launched in India on February 16. So does it live up to the 10,000 drop test claim? Let’s take a look at the features, specifications and price of Tecno Pop 5 LTE in Bangladesh.
Tecno Pop 5 LTE is an aggressively priced budget phone. So expectations for design and build quality shouldn’t be sky high. Yet the device packs a serious punch in both components for its price.
The vertical dual-tone finish on the back has a crossed design on one side and a glossy finish on the other. There is also big Techno branding like other Techno devices. The phone is made of durable polycarbonate and to be honest, this phone is built like a tank.

The volume rocker and power button are located on the left side with the SIM tray on the right side of the device. The SIM slot has a dedicated location for a micro SDXC card for additional storage.
A single firing speaker and 3.5mm headphone jack are located at the bottom of the device.
The Pop 5 LTE has a dedicated fingerprint sensor as the phone lacks any sort of facial recognition feature. The fingerprint scanner acts as the primary security measure here.
The only drawback here is the micro-USB port. But considering the price, the choice here is understandable.
Overall, the phone feels solid and durable at 195 grams. This is mostly attributed to the reinforced polycarbonate that allows for bold durability claims.
The display is nothing special here. The Pop 5 LTE features a 6.52-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel. The 720P panel has a 269 ppi density which is understandably not the sharpest display out there. Colors look great on the device. However, the black may look a little washed out. Compared to similarly priced devices like the Tecno Spark 8C and Realme C11, the display looks much better even though it’s only an HD+ panel. The panel won’t compare to high-end choices, but users will definitely get their money’s worth.
Tecno didn’t try to do anything fancy with the camera. Instead, they keep it simple and functional with a dual-lens module. The main sensor is an 8MP shooter with wide-angle features. Tecno didn’t specify the details of the second panel but it appears to be a depth sensor as the zoom options in the camera app are all digital.
The camera is as expected from a budget device. The 8MP camera can take some great shots in direct sunlight and well-lit environments. Dynamic range is almost non-existent here. The camera struggles in artificial light conditions and indoors. Grain as noise increases proportionally with decreasing light.

Portrait mode does a decent job of edge detection but at the expense of image sharpness. The front camera is a 5 MP shooter with the same features as the rear camera. The main camera can shoot 1080P at 30 fps and is the best here for videography.
Overall, the camera doesn’t hold any surprises. Instead, it keeps things simple and realistic in its price segment.
Pop 5 LTE features an entry-level processor and GPU. This was to be expected given the recent trajectory of devices from the techno. Here is MediaTek A22 processor with PowerVR GR8300 GPU. The processor has an octa-core setup with 4 1.6 GHz Cortex-A55 and 4 1.2 GHz Cortex-A55 chips.
Talking about performance, the phone does well in its price bracket. The processor and GPU aren’t really cut out for gaming. However, Call of Duty was quite smooth with medium graphics settings. The phone performs well with 2D games like Subway Surfer and Terraria. The phone heats up a bit after gaming for a long time, but that’s to be expected given the power of the processor.
So who is this phone for? It is mainly for those who want an everyday phone for everyday use, without any special use cases. The phone is perfect for casual web browsing and YouTube with some occasional gaming here and there.
The OS here is HIOS 7.6 based on Android 11 Go version. Go Edition is a lightweight version of Android designed for minimally capable devices. However, HIOS can be a turn off for many as it is a heavily customized Android skin. People coming from custom OS should have no problem adjusting to this platform. But Android purists may need some getting used to here.
Tecno’s latest phone Pop 5 LTE comes with a 5000 mAh battery. Due to the display and processor, the battery life on this device is quite good. Users can easily get about 7 to 8 hours of continuous use. However, the battery takes a hit with increased gaming and mobile data usage. There is no fast charging option here with USB Type-C. So charging takes forever compared to the 2022 standard.
Tecno Pop 5 LTE is officially available in Bangladesh. The 3/32 GB variant is priced at Rs 10,490.
Tecno Pop 5 LTE is a new addition to the much-loved Tecno Pop 5 series. The refreshed iteration doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel, but instead sticks to its strengths while maintaining aggressive pricing. The ultra-durable build quality is easily one of its strongest selling points. Battery and display come in a second. However, the Tecno could have done better in the camera department. Other than that, the phone is a well-built entry-level device for those looking for a cheap smartphone.
