Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max Full Specifications and Review

With a 120Hz refresh rate AMOLED screen and a 108MP rear camera, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max has all the features you need in a modern smartphone. At the same time, it costs this. This smartphone is the perfect choice if you are looking for a powerful device at a reasonable price.

Design and appearance

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max is very similar in design to the flagship Xiaomi Mi 11. In the mid-budget segment, this model is one of the most attractive.

Xiaomi gave this style the name Evol—which was an evolutionary version of the Aura design on the Redmi Note 7 models from two years ago. One of the Note 10 Pro Max colorways, Vintage Bronze with a slight gradient, looks great in my opinion. We also have Ice Blue and Dark Night to choose from.

The rear surface of the smartphone is covered with protective glass, Gorilla Glass 3, at the bottom of which is a neat Redmi inscription. The sides are rounded, which complements the sophisticated look of the device. The module with cameras immediately stands out, inside of which there are four sensors and a flash. It sticks out strongly above the body, which is inconvenient. To partially solve the problem, you need to wear a cover.

On the right side of the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, there is a power button with a fingerprint scanner, for which additional gestures can be configured. Double tapping will launch the camera, turn on the flashlight, or take a screenshot. Slightly higher housed the volume keys, and on the left there is a slot for SIM cards, which can put two SIM and one microSD. On the top side, we find a 3.5mm headphone jack and an IR port, as well as a second speaker. The first one is located below—just to the right of the USB-C charging port.

Last year’s Redmi Note 9 Pro Max was one of the heaviest smartphones in the category, so Xiaomi decided to reduce the size. The new model is 0.7 mm thinner and 16 grams lighter, and the battery capacity has not decreased. It is also important that the case has IP52 protection against water and dust. Xiaomi has never given much importance to water protection, and it’s not even on the flagship Mi 11, so it’s nice that the company has begun to change its approach.

Smartphone display

The Redmi Note 10 series is the first Note smartphone to come with an AMOLED display. But most importantly, Xiaomi has added a 120Hz refresh rate to the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. The screen is also protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and has a protective film out of the box.

The 6.67-inch display has a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels and is the best panel in the price segment. The colors displayed are great and the balance can be easily adjusted.

There are three modes to choose from: auto, rich, and standard. There is also a manual adjustment of the color temperature. The brightness is high, so you will not have any problems when using the gadget on the street. There is support for HDR10 and Widevine L1 DRM. You can watch content in 1080p on any streaming service like Netflix. Another feature of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max is stereo sound, which is provided by two speakers, top and bottom.

You can switch between a refresh rate of 60 Hz and 120 Hz. For some reason, although the adaptive mode appeared on the Mi 10T Pro model, it is not present in the Xiaomi Redmo Note 10 Pro Max. Xiaomi says that they are finalizing technologies for AMOLED panels, so this mode should appear soon.

In addition, there is an always-on mode that offers a variety of watch screensaver styles to choose from, or you can create your own. The sides are also highlighted here when notifications arrive. Something similar already exists in the Galaxy S21 line.

Redmi Note 10 Pro Max Cameras

A distinctive feature of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max is the main camera, with a resolution of 108 MP. This is the same Samsung HM2 sensor found in the Mi 10i, and the image quality is superior to its predecessors. The main camera is assisted by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 119-degree field of view, a 5MP macro lens that turns out to be surprisingly useful, and a 2MP depth sensor. There is a 16-megapixel camera on the front.

After 9-in-1 pixel binning, images from the main camera are 12 MP, although you can shoot at 108 MP. The interface of the application will be familiar to anyone who has ever used MIUI. There is a Pro mode with manual settings and a Night Mode 2.0, which now shoots in RAW. It takes a series of images and blends them so that the details of the frame in low light become higher.

Unfortunately, night mode is only available for the main camera. There is also no possibility to shoot video in 4K/60 fps-there is only an option for 30 fps. You can choose 1080p/60fps or even 720p/960fps.

During the day, photos will be excellent, colors will be natural, and the dynamic range is wide and without loss of detail. More importantly, the camera does an incredible job in low light. Pictures remain saturated when there is little to no noise.

The 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor has slightly warmer shades. In the dark, this camera is of little use, and the night mode is not available for it. The macro lens has autofocus, so the sensor is well suited for shooting from a distance of 10 cm. Noise is noticeable, but the detail remains high.

Overall, the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max cameras are some of the best in the price segment. You will be able to get excellent results in any light. And although 4K video is not the best here, the smartphone is great for taking photos.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max: Software

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max smartphone runs on MIUI 12 on top of Android 11. This gives the new model advantages over the Mi 10 and Poco M3, which still have Android 10.

After turning on the device, you will immediately notice how much less unnecessary software is here, relative to its predecessors. Xiaomi is making good on its promise to make MIUI cleaner. The company said that in MIUI 12.5 there will be no spam and advertising notifications, and users will be able to remove even a number of system applications.

That’s good, but MIUI 12.5 is only a few months away. So far, there is spam and advertising, although it is not so much. Especially annoying are the “recommendations” from the GetApps app store from Xiaomi. You won’t be able to uninstall it even in MIUI 12.5 because the company considers it a key service. But, advertising offers should lessen.

In any case, the interface is noticeably cleaner than last year’s Note 9. MIUI 12 brings a lot of cool changes: pop-ups, privacy bar, new animations, scheduled dark mode, and app drawer. There are all the updates from Android 11, which include a new dialog view, security and privacy features, a media player in the notification shade, and smart home control.

In 2019, Xiaomi decided to ditch its calling and SMS messaging apps and switch to Google services. First, it affected Mi smartphones, and then Poco. With the release of Note 10, changes have also appeared in the Redmi series.

The transition to more familiar applications is encouraging, although not everything is implemented perfectly. By default, the Xiaomi keyboard is still used, not Gboard, so you will have to change it yourself. In addition, when switching to Dark Mode, for some reason, colors change in applications where the mode has not yet been implemented. This option also needs to be disabled manually.

However, the software in the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max is far superior to that of previous models in the line and should improve further in the future. It’s good that Xiaomi has finally begun to listen to the claims regarding ads and bloated software.

Component performance of Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max

Xiaomi followed the example of Samsung and began to use hardware in new smartphones, which we have already seen on other models of the company. As a result, many Redmi, Poco, and Mi smartphones are similar in their characteristics to each other.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max uses the same Snapdragon 732G processor as the Note 10 Pro and Poco X3. An important difference between the latter is the AMOLED display, which has a refresh rate of 120 Hz, but otherwise, the specifications are almost the same.

This chipset is based on 8nm process technology, and its performance is not new. We will get two Cortex A76 cores (2.3 GHz) and six energy-efficient Cortex A55 cores (1.8 GHz).

This is not the fastest processor in the mid-budget segment—the Dimensity 800U is noticeably more powerful. But, the 732G does a good job, especially since Xiaomi has optimized MIUI. The device easily performs all everyday tasks and is suitable for most games at medium settings. In addition, Xiaomi uses Qualcomm’s Elite Gaming technology to increase the speed of gaming.

In terms of connectivity, there’s Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.1, and an improved vibration motor. The latter provides excellent feedback. Three builds of Note 10 Pro Max are available for sale: 6/64 GB, 6/128 GB, and 8/128 GB. In all three gadgets, the type of RAM is LPDDR4X, and the internal storage format is UFS 2.2.

Battery autonomy of Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max

Long autonomy The Redmi Note 10 Pro Max provides a massive battery with a capacity of 5020 mAh. It supports fast charging at 33W, and the corresponding device is included. Redmi Note smartphones have always been distinguished by high autonomy. The situation has not changed in the new model, although the case has become thinner and lighter. One battery charge is enough for a day of work, even with a screen refresh rate of 120 Hz. Thanks to fast charging in half an hour, you can restore 50% of the energy.

The Opinion of MobileShopsBD about Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max

The main competitor of the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max is a smartphone from Xiaomi—the 10i. It has the same 108 MP camera and photo quality. The design is no less pleasant, and the 4820mAh battery supports 33W fast charging. But, the Mi 10i does not have an AMOLED screen, and the device runs on Android 10 OS. But there is 5G.

If you are looking for a similar model with a 120Hz screen and 5G, there is the great Realme Narzo 30 Pro. It has an LCD display, a 5000mAh battery, and 33W of fast charging. Like the Realme X7 and Redmi Note 9T, the Narzo 30 Pro runs on the Dimensity 800U processor. The resolution of the main camera is 48 MP, and the price is slightly lower.

Still, the best choice for the money would be the Poco X3 with the same Snapdragon 732G processor as the Note 10 Pro Max. Its LCD display has a refresh rate of 120Hz and there is a 64MP camera on the back. The huge 6000 mAh battery with support for fast charging (33 W) is also impressive.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max price and alternatives

The basic version of Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max will cost you 20 thousand rubles. Thus, the Redmi Note line is getting closer and closer to the middle price segment. Many fans of the brand will certainly prefer cheaper smartphones.

Is Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max worth buying?

You get great specs, a 120Hz AMOLED display, and a 108MP camera. This is a very attractive set for its price. In addition, there is powerful hardware, high battery life, 33W charging, Android 11, and great design. Therefore, it is not worth demanding something more from a relatively affordable smartphone in 2021.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro Max combines an excellent 120Hz AMOLED panel with solid components, an excellent 108MP camera, a large 5020mAh battery with 33W fast charging, Android 11, and a great design. If you’re looking for a new budget phone, you can’t go wrong with the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max.
