Design, display, and build of Realme Narzo 50

The Realme Narzo 50 is the latest smartphone in the Realme Narzo range, and it is a better version of the Narzo 50A in the Narzo 50 series. The main differences we noted are its 120Hz display, newer processor (Helio G96), upgraded cameras, and a few design changes from the Narzo 50A and Narzo 30. The Realme Narzo 50 competes with its recently released competitor, the Redmi Note 11S, with similar specs.

What’s in the design of the Narzo 50? The back has a slightly matte Kevlar Speed Texture finish with racing patterns, as you can see in the images below, and the surface that reflects light when light falls on it. The overall design of the Narzo 50 looks great and feels great considering the price. On the upper left, there’s a triple-camera arrangement and the Narzo logo on the bottom. The phone is available in two color options: Speed Blue and Speed Black. We’ve got Speed Blue.

On the front, the Realme Narzo 50 comes with a 6.6-inch IPS display with Full HD+ resolution and a fast 120Hz refresh rate for a smoother UI and app experience. The smartphone has a 50 Aside from the main camera and a 16 MP selfie camera, there are also stereo speakers for a better multimedia experience, and a side fingerprint scanner is also present and is integrated with the power button to lock and unlock the phone.

The power button on the right doubles as a fingerprint reader, while the volume keys and three-slot SIM tray on the left support two 4G SIM cards and a dedicated microSD card slot. The Narzo 50 falls behind the competition in terms of 5G functionality due to the lack of a 5G modem in the processor.

The bottom side has a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack, along with a microphone and stereo speakers (one on the earpiece). The upper face has nothing sideways.

Software and user interface

The Realme Narzo 50 starts with the old Realme 2.0 UI based on Android OS 11. Several Realme smartphones already offer Realme UI version 2.0. However, a newer version of the OS exists. The Realme UI 3.0 upgrade has already arrived on a few Realme smartphones, and we hope to see it on the Narzo 50 as well. Realme says the Narzo 50 will get it soon, and all we can say is wait for the update to be up-to-date until she arrives.

The new Realme 3.0 UI is packed full of features that were released a few months ago and a handful of Realme smartphones have already received the update. The list of compatible devices may be seen here. On the list is the Narzo 50. Realme UI 3.0 introduces a new Fluid Space design, as well as UI customization, better animations, a bespoke always-on display, additional privacy options, and more.

The Realme Narzo 50 has Android 11 with a security patch dated January 5, 2022, which appears to be the latest. Realme UI 2.0 has been seamlessly optimized for Android 11, with 100+ customizations including theme color, dark modes, icon packs, etc. Thanks to its 120Hz display, the Realme UI 2.0 is smooth and light.

Bloatware is present on the phone, although it may be deleted if you do not require it. Facebook, Josh, Dailyhunt, Booking.com, Moj, Snapchat, LinkedIn, PhonePe, Amazon, and a few other third-party apps, including Realme apps, are among the bloatware on the phone.

Realme Narzo 50: Hardware, performance, and games

On the hardware side, the Realme Narzo 50 equips an octa-core MediaTek Helio G96 SoC clocked at 2.05GHz with the ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU for gaming, graphics applications, and graphics-intensive tasks.

If we talk about the processor, the Mediatek Helio G96 is a mid-range SoC fabricated in a 12nm process consisting of 2+6 core configurations, two high-performance ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.05 GHz and six cores ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz.

Speaking of its RAM and storage options, the Narzo 50 comes in two variants, starting with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage as the base variant, and 6GB RAM and 128GB storage as the highest variant. A microSD card slot allows for storage expansion of up to 1 TB.

It has a RAM expansion technology that expands the RAM up to an additional 5GB, i.e. The highest edition has 6GB of RAM that can be extended to 11GB (9GB on the 4GB RAM variant). The price of Realme Narzo 50 starts at TK 16,490  for its base 4GB RAM + 64GB variant, and TK 19,499 for its top 6GB RAM + 128GB variant.

The CPU performance is quite similar to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G. For gaming and GPU-intensive workloads, the processor includes an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. On normal graphics settings, GPU performance is good, and many games run smoothly.

Realme Narzo 50: Cameras

The Narzo 50’s cameras include a triple setup with 50 MP as the main sensor. There are a total of three cameras on the back, the 50 MP camera, the 2 MP macro camera, and the 2 MP portrait/depth camera. No fourth camera was found. i.e., an ultra-wide-angle or telephoto camera.

The camera setup is very similar to the recently released Realme 9i smartphone, with a 50 MP main camera, a 2 MP macro, and a 2 MP B&W. The Narzo 50’s front camera is a 16 MP for selfie needs and video calling.

For its camera features, you can click 2x or 5x digital zoom photos, take ultra macro photos, and portrait shots, as well as Slo-mo videos, Dual-view videos, Time-Lapse, Panorama, etc. The camera records up to 1080p at 30 fps, no 60 fps, and 4K video.

The camera quality seems to be good for this price segment. If you use it for daylight shots (50 MP), there is not much to say about its camera. It works well considering the price. Take a look at these camera samples we took with the Narzo 50 cameras.

Realme Narzo 50: Battery life and charging

The Realme Narzo 50 packs a 5000mAh battery and can last around 2 days on average, depending on your usage. The 5,000mAh battery also supports 33W Dart Charge fast charging, which is still the fastest, if not the fastest in its segment, taking around 70 minutes to charge from 0% to 100% on a single charge.

My Opinion of Realme Narzo 50

The Realme Narzo 50 offers a fast 120Hz display, a mid-range Helio G96 octa-core processor, stereo speakers, and 33W fast charging for the price of 16,490 TK. You may also use its RAM expansion technology to enhance the overall RAM. Overall, the Realme Narzo 50 offers a good multimedia experience, good gaming performance, and good battery life with support for fast charging. Priced at TK 16,490 (base variant), the Narzo 50 is suitable for gamers on a budget and those looking for a mid-range smartphone at an affordable price. The Realme Narzo 50 is still a 4G smartphone, so if you are looking for a 5G smartphone, look for phones that support 5G.
