The Realme 9 4G Full Specifications and Review

The Realme 9 4G is probably the successor to the manufacturer’s most popular smartphone. Realme 8 easily climbed to the top of our leaderboards, and for around 30,000 Taka, it’s still a great choice. In this review, we’ll take a closer look at whether the Realme 9 4G can keep up with its predecessor and the € 150 Redmi Note 11. The new Realme smartphone has a 90Hz AMOLED display, a new Samsung 108 megapixel sensor, and a Snapdragon 680 in the luggage. We’ve already been able to actually use the Realme 9 4G for 2 weeks and you can read our test results below.

Design and Finishing of The Realme 9 4G

Unusual colors and materials are not uncommon at Realme. In addition to the annoying black option, the Realme 9 4G is also available in orange and white. The last two colors are characterized by wavy reflections on the back of the plastic. I really like our orange test device, and the mandatory labeling (CE, cross-out trash cans, and company information) is kept free. Only the “Realmy” characters on Silver and the camera heel are a little more obvious. The Realme 9 4G measures 160.2 x 73.3 x 8 mm and weighs 178 grams. This puts the smartphone almost in the “small and light” category. In all color versions, the frame is silver in color and the smartphone is made entirely of plastic. The maximum point of the camera module extends 3mm from the rear, and the Realme 9 4G is swaying on a flat surface. The protective cover that comes with it does not change. The front is marked by a punch-hole groove on the left, which holds the front camera. The chin is also quite thick at 7mm, the other edges are narrow at 3mm, and the Realme 9 4G looks quite modern.

Realme All connections have been moved to the bottom, and there is only a second microphone at the top of the frame. Below are the main microphone, single speaker, 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB-C 2.0 port. Unfortunately, the Realme 9 4G doesn’t have stereo sound, which is a shame. Otherwise, the power button is on the right and the volume rocker with two separate buttons is on the left. Realm, as one of the few manufacturers, actually always does this. I am satisfied with the under-display fingerprint sensor, which works really well at this price point. After about a second, the Realme 9 4G is unlocked, and you’re done on the home screen. With 7/10 effort, it works directly. Basically, power button sensors are faster and more accurate in this price range.

The SIM slot on the far left is a popular triple slot. So two Nano-SIM cards and a microSD (up to 1 TB) can be used at the same time for memory expansion. Without a case, the Realme 9 4G feels good in the hand for a round back, but it doesn’t blow away the premium feel at all. A fingerprint on the back turned into a magnet and the scratches were clearly visible even after a short time. On the other hand, if you use the supplied cover, you will lose the impressive look because the supplied protective cover has unfortunately gone dark. The Realme 9 4G’s processing is rock-solid and the device looks stable. The fingerprint sensor is really good for this price range, but the lack of stereo speakers is definitely a point of criticism. One highlight is the fully functional AOD (always-on-display), which easily replaces the notification LED.

Realme 9 4G Delivery Opportunity

The typical yellow box typically contains a charging adapter (33 watts), a USB-C to USB-A cable, some paperwork, a SIM needle, and a protective silicone case. A screen protector has already been installed in the factory.

Realme 9 4G Super AMOLED display

The manufacturer has already relied on an AMOLED display in the lower price range for the Realme 8. What was still rare last year is now standard. Nevertheless, there is a clear upgrade over its predecessor, like the Realme 9 4G now has a 90Hz AMOLED display installed. This makes the whole system much smoother, although the new device has less power. With a 6.4-inch diagonal, the display still delivers razor-sharp content with a smaller representation and 2400 x 1080 pixels. With 411 pixels per inch, you can no longer create individual pixels. Manual mode has a boost to a maximum brightness of 800 lux and 1050 lux with automatic brightness. Outside readability is similarly excellent.

By default, the color is bold and the vivid mode is selected. Three additional color modes (Nature, Cinematic, and Bright) are available, and the color temperature can be adjusted infinitely independently. available for 90 Hz, 60 Hz, and automatic display refresh rates. However, even at 90Hz in apps like YouTube, it automatically drops to 60Hz. So it really doesn’t matter if you choose automatic or 90Hz.

The touchscreen processes all inputs quickly and accurately. Realme speaks of a solid sampling rate of 360Hz. With Corning Gorilla Glass 5, the Realme 9 4G’s display is also protected against damage. In addition to the configurable AOD, additional settings include a dark mode (black/white reversal) and an eye comfort mode (reading mode). Everything can be timed. Only sensitive users can view the tube, as DC dimming is unfortunately not supported. It is usually in Realme’s “Realme Lab” and is not currently available on Realme 9 4G.

The real critique of the show would be out of place here. The Realme 9 4G’s display is reliable in all respects and is a clear upgrade from its predecessor.

Performance and Systems The Realme 9 4G

With the Snapdragon 680, the Realme 9 4G uses a simple processor for the cheap middle class. The octa-core processor is built using the 6nm process and has the following cores: 4 x Cortex-A73 cores at 2.4GHz and 4 x Cortex-A53 cores at 1.8GHz. An Adreno 610 GPU is available for games that are not graphically demanding. The performance of the Realme 9 4G meets the expectations of a 25,000 taka smartphone. Well, measured 8GB of RAM doesn’t really help. For example, if you want to use a “floating window” to navigate and call at the same time, the smartphone starts to stutter. If you use a maximum of 2 apps at once (without a floating window), you will rarely have any problems. You can easily switch between browsers and social media apps, and basically, all animations are fluid according to 90Hz. Don’t expect miracles when it comes to gaming, and Realme 9 4G is overwhelmed by more than just ordinary 2D games. It has a benchmark of up to 25,000 takas compared to other smartphones.

So you can see a clear step here compared to Realme 8. However, many manufacturers are fighting to the bottom as the chip crisis clearly limits the selection of good processors. The minimum requirement for a Snapdragon 680 smartphone is below 25,000 takas and above. Internal UFS 2.2 storage achieves a read/write rate of 670/228 MB/s and provides 4.5 GB/s of RAM. Both of these values are sufficient to support a fluid system. But the standard can in no way keep up with the actual performance of the smartphone.

Realme User Interface (UI) 3 is based on Android 12.

The manufacturer uses Realme Oppo’s Color OS system as a basis but adapts it at least visually. The so-called Realme UI is one of the highly customized systems with a wide range of functions. All of which can be easily uninstalled. However, you cannot uninstall Realme’s own music, games, and video apps. However, you do not need to use apps. The full Google Guard must be pre-installed and some apps may be uninstalled. Otherwise, Realme relies on a tidy and up-to-date system. The latest Realme UI 3 is based on the latest Android 12 system. So far, Realme has provided 2-year system updates and 3-year security updates for the middle class. There is only one exception: the manufacturer’s expensive flagships. That puts you at least as good as Xiaomi’s competition.

After a certain amount of exposure, you will find your way around the Realme system, and there is rarely a lack of highlights for this price range. The always-on display is fully functional and can be greatly adjusted optically. Icon style, font, display size, or even fingerprint animation can be adjusted. I personally prefer the Realme UI 3, not only in terms of looks but also in terms of features that provide what you can expect in this price range. The system always runs smoothly, and there were no problems during the testing phase.

Realme 9 4G camera

Realme 9’s camera, Realme played the drums at the beginning and talked about the new Samsung HM6 108 megapixel sensor. It’s actually installed, but for now,, it’s not a game-changer for a 25,000 taka smartphone. But first let’s take a look at what the Realme 9 4G has to offer in detail: Main camera: 108MP, Samsung HM6, 6P lens, f/1.7, 1 / 1.67 inch, 84 Ultra wide-angle camera: 8MP, OmniVision OV08D10, 5P Lens, f/2.2, 120 2MP, GC02M1, 3P lens, f/2.4, 89 ° Selfie camera: 16MP, Sony IMX471, 5P lens, f/2.45, 78

Daylight shots are perfect for Realme 9 4G and sometimes rely on a slightly cooler color. The blue sky carries somewhat throughout the picture. If you prefer warm shots, you can use AI mode. In any case, the details and sharpness of the recordings are consistent in any case if there is sufficient light. On the other hand, the dynamic range of the new Samsung HM6 sensor seems to be somewhat limited. Still, the Realme 9 4G delivers really good daylight shots in the  25,000 Taka price range that shouldn’t be hidden from the competition. The overall impression of the photo is simply consistent.

extremely wide-angle

Unless you are looking at ultra-wide-angle shots up close on a large PC screen, you can definitely use them. PCs, on the other hand, have a blur at the edges. The lack of detail for all recordings with UWW should also be assumed. But color and dynamics fit. This means that the ultra-wide-angle camera can easily operate with devices in the same price range.

Selfie

With a little light, the selfies become very soft and the shape of the face becomes completely blurred. Otherwise, the recordings are never 100 percent clear, but they still have a lot of details.

Macro shot

If you look at the macros with the main camera above, then, as usual, you could do without the extra macro sensors.

Portrait shot

The Realme 9 4G can also record portraits with its main camera. They are as reliable as the shots above, and the separation of foreground and background work reliably and clearly.

Night shot

And Realme 9 4G doesn’t stand out positively, at least not here. The recordings start to get noisy at first, and the night mode rarely limits it. As soon as you zoom in a little, you see the lack of detail. The color fits quite well, and the actual yellow hue is actually kept within the range here. The fact that the sky is black is definitely a positive thing.

The subject just takes a quick look at the video, and the subject is done with it. If you want to make a video, keep your hands away from the Realme 9 4G.

Realme doesn’t redefine camera quality with the Samsung HM6 in the price range, but with a little optimization, it goes to the top. Those who like daylight shots with head and UWW cameras will definitely be satisfied with the Realme 9 4G. Night shots, on the other hand, are nothing special, and the video function is a complete failure, at least during the test.

Connection and communication The Realme 9 4G

As the name suggests, the Realme 9 4G only supports 2G, 3G, and 4G (LTE) at the following frequencies: 4G (LTE): 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/20/28/38/40/41 You have to do without 5G, for which you will be compensated with more useful features in this price range. SAR values are 0.99 W/kg (head) and 1.27 W/kg (body). The reception of the Realme 9 4G felt more than average, and I was able to surf with Realme in areas where I usually have very few receptions. With VoLTE and VoWiFi, the quality of the call is very low and the display is reliably dimmed during the call. Fans of high-resolution music or headphones will get their money’s worth. In addition to AptX, the Realme 9 4G even supports aptX HD and LDAC. You have to do it here without LHDC. The standard is Bluetooth 5.1. connected to headphones and worked without any problems in the car (Seat Mii Electric). It goes to WLAN via WiFi 5, and it works in practice with a good range and high data throughput without restrictions. After two walls and 10 meters, we still get 200/50 MBit/s, and right next to the router it downloads more than 355 MBit/s. Of course, this is still far from the maximum of my gigabit line.

NFC is also available for mobile payments. Positioning (GPS, Glonass, Beidou, and Galileo) takes only a few seconds outdoors and is accurate up to 3-4 meters. The car had no problems, and in total, I navigated more than 1000 kilometers without any problems. A compass is also available for pedestrian navigation. Other sensors include an acceleration, brightness, proximity sensor, and a gyroscope. Realme 9 4G is fully equipped with it and worked flawlessly in testing. By comparison, Xiaomi only has an infrared transmitter on board as a small treat. Despite having a headphone jack, the Realme, unfortunately, does not have an FM radio. The quality of mono speakers is certainly inferior to the price range competition.

 Realme 9 4G Battery Life.

I’m really impressed with the battery life of the Realme 9 4G. The device doesn’t seem to like our battery benchmark at all. At 90Hz, the light goes out after 7.5 hours on the benchmark, and even at 60Hz, it rarely gets better at 8 hours. This is a negative record, but in the end, it will not take you away from Realme 9. In reality, it looks very different and costs only 5% of the battery power for one hour of YouTube streaming on WLAN with 200 lux. I used the device in practice by setting the refresh rate to “High-90Hz”. With navigation, benchmarks, photos, and lots of social media, I easily got 2 days of use with a DOT of 6 to 7 hours (display time on). We’re putting the Realme 9 4G in the editorial office and will repeat the benchmark after some updates.

Realme 9 4G can keep up with the competition in terms of loading time. The 5000 mAh battery with the included 33-watt power supply gets fully charged in 75 minutes. Like almost every manufacturer, Realme uses an in-house charging standard here. So, 33 watts can only be used with OnePlus, Oppo, or Realme charging adapters.

The Opinion of MobileShopsBD about Realme 9 4G

Realme doesn’t make it easy for me here. The Realme 9 4G is not as easy to buy as the Realme 8. As long as Realme 8 is still on sale, you can easily do without Realme 9 4G. The 108-megapixel is heavily advertised and, as such, video performance and night shots are disappointing. With a target price of 25,000 Taka, things look a little different, because daylight shots are great. The highlights of the Realme 9 4G are the display, solid workmanship, good battery life, and extensive connectivity. A faster processor would certainly be good for the device, as it is one step behind its predecessor. The price range of around 25,000 TK is not really very crowded at the moment, and the Realme 9 4G is definitely an option. At 25,000 taka, we shouldn’t take a look at our best list. The sooner you increase your budget to 30,000 Taka, the more you will be pushed for your money.
